There are a lot of small sized beaches on Kalymnos. Some of them you can only visit by boat from places as Myrties, Rina (Valley of Vathy) or Pothia.
On the beach of Massouri you will find water en beache sports. There is also a cafetaria and a taverna on the beach. At the beaches of Vlichadia, Emborios, Platis Gialos you will find nice tavernas. In Vlichadia is a diving school. Naturist Beaches: There is no naturist beach on Kalymnos. On the island Telendos, on the opposite of Myrties and Massouri, is a small naturist beach. and This little island belongs to the Province of Kalymnos and is situated right opposite the tourist area of Massouri Myrties. There is a channel, which separates the two islands, and the distance between them is only 700 meters. There are small boats connecting Telendos with Kalymnos, every 30 minutes and the distance is covered in less than 10 minutes. The two islands were united till 555 A.C. when a terrible earthquake separated them. Telendos has just a few inhabitants, mainly fishermen and many churches. There are two small but very nice beaches on the Southeast part of the island. There are several beaches on the beautiful and quiet island Telendos. On Telendos you go left and follow the signs with text "Chohlakas Beach". It is a 15 minutes walk first between the houses then a path up and when you are on the top first enjoy the view. Then it is down untill you are at the beach. You can rent beds and umbrella. Don't forget to take something to drink with you.
The second beach is when you arrive on Telendos you go right and after a 10/15 minutes walk you will find several small beaches. The last one you can go nude sunbathing.
If you like to walk, go for a walk on Telendos and you will find more beautiful small beaches.
Nude beach
Although it is not officialy allowed people use Paradise beach to get nude. It is easy to find. When you arrive on the island with one of the small boats you take the road to the right until the nude beach. INFO & WEBSITES
- To reach Telendos you go with one of the small boats from Myrties on Kalymnos. They leave every 15 minutes, from the early morning until midnight.
On the westcoast of Kalymnos.
Myrties, this village is situated further to the north and it is very touristic. Here you find the harbour from where the little boats leave for the opposite island Telendos. Just before entering Myrties there is a turn to the right which leads to Massouri and offers a beautiful view over the places Myrties, Massouri and Telendos. The next turn to the left leads to the little village Melitsachas, with a small sandy beach and one good tavern.  On the left and right side of the harbour of Myrties you will find a beach with a nice view. You can see the small boats coming and going to Telendos.
Myrties is a little bit like Massouri. In Myrties you can find tourist shops, bars and restaurants. Enough to make it a pleasant stay at Myrties. Massouri is just 15 minuts walk and the bus can take you to Emporios or to Pothia, the capital of Kalymnos. On Kalymnos you can do several kind of watersports at beach of Massouri. There ar also nice routes to walk. But one of the specials on Kalymnos is climbing, diving. Sailing is very populair in the Greek seas. You can start your sailing trip at Kalymnos. In the year 2000 there was a climbing convention on Kalymnos. You could say the introduction of climbing. There are more than 20 areas with 200 pitches, from F4c to F8a, on the beautiful west coast of the island from Pothia until Emborios. The rock is of excellent quality limestone and sharp at only a few points. Climbing on Kalymnos is exciting and you only need basic equipment. Because of the ideal climate you can climb yhe whole year but the best seasons are spring and autumn. Most of the pitches are west or southwest, so they have the morning shade.

Diving is a part of life in Kalymnos. It is the sponge diving island of Kalymnos. No big tourist business but just diving with professionals in the waters around Kalymnos. Kalymnians are not only divers by profession but also for a hobby. Thats the reason that you can rent or buy good equipment on the island. Even the hospital has good facilities for divers. We hope you don't need them, but it is good to know it is on the island.
In Vlichadia is a diving center and at Kalymnos Marine Center you can get the right equipment. Sponges of Kalymnos In the Dodecanese are a lot of islands where sponge divers lived and still live. The island Kalymnos is the most well known island of the sponges and sponge divers. The sponge is living on the seabed and with the thousand holes it cleans the seawater. The sponge is originally dark and gets later a synthetic color. It looks better than the dark ones. The Kalymnians are still diving for sponges not around the island Kalymnos,but when the springtime begins the go with there boats to North-Africa. In September / October they come back with so called Kalymnian Gold. When the divers bring the sponges on the boat the pressed all the water out of the sponge, clean and dry them. In the factories on Kalymnos they cut the sponge in different sizes. Some of the sponges get a chemical bath to give them a bright color.
